Quad Cities Corner
Riverfront Campus Opens
January 17, 2012, was a banner day for WIU’s development of our Quad Cities (Iowa/Illinois) campus as the first of four planned buildings opened for classes. BGS advisor Jacquelyn Holan watched the ribbon cutting with some bemusement.
“I began my career as an advisor in the Quad Cities in 1986,” Jacquelyn said. “At that time, WIU’s permanent presence consisted of a ‘room within a room’ office and two employees – administrative assistant Carmen Sandoval, who retired in July, and me. Now there are over 200 faculty and staff members, not to mention all of the graduate assistants and student workers. I have had the rare and amazing opportunity to see an entire campus grow around me.”
Groundbreaking for Building Two was celebrated on August 29, 2012, with the building expected to open for the 2014 school year.
